Further afield, 7 Kms away, Aubeterre-sur-Dronne is ranked by the French Tourist Authority as one of the most beautiful villages in France and well-worth a visit for its famous monolithic underground church, craft shops, riverside bathing beach and many restaurants. About the same distance away, across the border with Dordogne, there is the small bustling town of Riberac with its cinema, restaurants famous Friday open-air market.
The surrounding area has many interesting places to enjoy: the old quarter of both Perigueux and Angouleme, also picturesque St. Emilion, the Bordeaux wine region, Dordogne Valley, Royan Coast and Cognac Distilleries are all within easy reach.

The nearest railway station is Montmoreau, just 15 minutes by car. High speed trains from Paris take you there in less than 4 hours. Journeytime from London using Eurostar takes between 6 and 7 hours.
