L´Echappée Verte - Les Lilas. Rental gite sleeping 6 with shared heated pool: Secluded and safe in a 15 hectare clearing of meadows, yet only 10 minutes to bastide towns of Belvès and Monpazier in the Dordogne. Belvès Dordogne (24), Aquitaine Description : Situated ten minutes drive between Belvès and Monpazier, in a 15 hectare airy clearing of fields and meadows surrounded by chestnut and oak woodland, the hamlet of Le But has been restored by French artisans to create L´Echappée Verte - six Perigordian holiday homes set in peaceful grounds of 2.5 hectares. Features include the securely fenced, heated swimming pool (14 x 7m) and toddlers pool open to mid September, games room with table tennis, volley ball, basket ball, badminton, play area with climbing frame and swings, pool house with TV/DVD serving icecream and soft drinks, and a football pitch set well away from the gites. The large function room with equipped kitchen is available for larger groups. L´Echappée Verte offers a peaceful and relaxing environment perfect for couples, families and groups and being just 50 minutes from Bergerac airport with its links to UK airports is an ideal location for short breaks to discover the Dordogne region. Where possible we will consider flexible start and end dates to coincide with weekday flights. Arguably the most pouplar of the gites, Les Lilas is an ideal house for families with young children or older people. An additional separate guest room with double bed and en-suite bathroom may be rented at a modest charge in conjuction with any gite rental subject to availability.

About the Location Belvès and Monpazier are small towns retaining their mediaeval features and each have colourful weekly markets selling fresh local produce and crafts. Both have bars, bistros, gourmet restaurants and cafés to suit all budgets, ranging from traditional perigourdian cuisine to something more simple. The many attractions of the Dordogne and Lot & Garonne are within easy reach on pleasant scenic country roads past valleys of maize and sunflowers, walnut and fruit orchards or natural chestnut and oak wooded hillsides. Popular trips out include canoeing on the Dordogne river, an afternoon high in the trees on an acrobranch circuit, visiting the dramatic caves at Promeyssac or the various prehistoric cave paintings, visiting the many mediaeval castles including Castelnaud or Bonaguil or a pleasant stroll through the gardens at Marqueyssac. Of course each town has its own traditional craftsmen and museums of local history. July and August are busy months with costumed mediaeval festivals, scarecrow competitions, evening markets and local dances. The Wednesday evening soiree in Belvès during the summer is always popular with visitors and locals alike. L'Echappée Verte offers friendly, relaxed self catering accomodation for couples and groups as well as being an ideal location for families with plenty space to make friends or discover the local wildlife of brightly coloured insects, lizards, songbirds, buzzards, deer, wild boar etc! Guests appreciate our weekly barbecue - the ideal opportunity to meet fellow guests. Also popular are regular visits eg to the karting track, pony treking or lunching at the neighbouring goose farm.
Notes for guests Our welcome pack includes essential breakfast items, fruit juice, chilled water and a bottle of chilled wine to help you relax from minute you arrive. Craftsman baked bread and croissants are delivered each morning. We live on site with our children and are happy to provide local information. Should you wish to make a restaurant reservation or book an activity, we will arrange this with pleasure!
