About the Location
Les Rois is set amidst fields of sunflowers, corn and vine yards only 5 km from the historic town of Gemozac where you will find two supermarkets, petrol station and car wash, banks, post office, bars and restaurants and a host of local shops to purchase all you require. Gemozac also has a large outdoor swimming pool with water slide, tennis courts and a weekly market.
We are close to the city of Saintes with its historically famous Roman amphitheatre, ancient cathedral and abbey, and the peaceful river Charente flowing through the centre of this bustling metropolis.
A little further away to the east is the city of Cognac, the home of cognac and of the Martell and Hennesy cognac houses who offer tours of their distilleries and of course tasting!!
The coastal city of Royan to our west has miles of white sandy beaches where golf, horse riding and water sports are to be found, as is the Palmyrie zoo said to be the best in France, and the new attraction 'Jardins du Mondes'. There are cafes and bars in abundance, a casino and nightclubs.
In the surrounding area all within 40 minutes drive you will find golf courses, horse riding, tennis, water sports, zoos, gardens, chateaux, pineau and cognac tasting, historic buildings in numerous towns and villages, beautiful white sandy beaches and breathtaking countryside, and on the Gironde estuary marinas and ports, fishing trips and leisure cruises.
