Where it is - La Fougasse is a spacious 5 bed roomed Perigord style house situated 1.2km from the village of Castelnaud La Chappelle. It is in one of the most sought after locations in the Dordogne. Situated just 12km from the historic town of Sarlat, famous for its perfectly maintained medieval town centre and its many gastronomic restaurants. Castelnaud is only 2km from Baynac with its imposing castle 300 ft above the village which runs along the Dordogne river. Also only 2km from La Roq Gageac and 8km from Domme, a spectacular hilltop town overlooking the Dordogne Valley. La Fougasse is a lovely spot to spend a peaceful and relaxing holiday, or to use as a central base for exploring the surrounding area -The Perigord Noir famous for its regional cuisine of fois gras. Peaceful, but not isolated. All linen, towels, pool towels, cooking equipment etc. provided. All you need to do is bring yourselves. A great place to spend your holidays. With a total of 5 bedrooms there are 2 Bedrooms, 2nd Living room and 2 Bathrooms downstairs, this property is ideally suited to 2 families or any large family group. Relax beside the warm outdoor pool. The large garden is ideal for children. Indoors there is table tennis, a DVD and TV.

2 Lounge areas. 1st Lounge has large log burning feature fireplace with ample seating for 12 people.The patio doors to the living room lead out to the main patio,barbeque area and the swimming pool. -- 2nd Lounge - Downstairs has TV,DVD, Table Tennis Table with bats,balls etc supplied. There is also a very comfortable 5ft Sofa Bed in this room to accommodate those extra guests if required.
Dining Room
Dining Room has a long table with ample space and seating for 12 people.
We also supply High Chairs if required. The dining room is the l of the very large L shaped Dining/Living room. Off the dining room is a small balcony which is an absolute sun trap, There is an awning one can pull out over this balcony.
Kitchen
The Kitchen is very well equipped with all the plates, cutlery and utensils anyone could need. There is a cooker, with 4 rings and an oven with grill. There is also a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, & microwave, The washing machine & clothes dryer are in a separate laundry room

The village of Castelnaud boasts a restaurant, café/bar, butcher, boulangerie, post office and a general store where one can get all the essentials. In addition there is a local Taxi Service in the village. Just behind the shopping area in the village one can rent canoes for trips on the river and cycle rental is also available. Local activities swimming, tennis, walking, sailing, cycling, fishing, horse riding, golf, mountain biking. There are many beautiful medieval towns such as Sarlat, Domme. Beynac and La Roque Gageac all within a short distance of La Fougasse. The Chateau of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle is within walking distance of the house and is well worth a visit. If one wishes to travel a little further the city of Bordeaux and the many vineyards of the area are only 2 hours away. St Emilion is worth visiting and one can visit the local vineyards and bring back some Bordeaux wine at a fraction of the cost at home. Dining out locally is an experience not to be missed. The local cuisine is famous for its fois gras and there are many restaurants nearby which specialise in cuisine of the region. Notes for guests
One can keep the house nice and cool inside during the summer but ample fans are supplied in the bedrooms should the house be too warm for our guests. Smoking on either of the terraces or balcony (off the kitchen) is acceptable.

We expect you to look after this fine property as if it was your own so hence we do not ask for a security/breakage deposit. We do however expect that should there be any significant accidental damage that you would make good.
